TiM is an easy, fast, secure way to submit startwork via a digital system. But what exactly do you see when you fill out and submit your startwork?
Step 1. You receive an Employee Invite
To be connected to your startwork, you must be invited to a project by an employee or Admin already connected to that project who also has permission to invite other employees.
Once you are invited to a project, you will receive an email from "firstname.lastname@example.org".
The invite will include:
- A hyperlink that will send you to hellotim.com and direct you to your startwork.
- If written, a custom note from production will appear in highlighted text.
- The name and email of the person who sent the invite , in case you have any questions.
NOTE: If you know an invite has been sent, but you have not received it, check your spam folder.
Step 2. Log in to or Sign up with TiM.
To access and fill out your startwork, you must have a TiM user account, which is free for employees to set up and use!
NOTE: As your TiM login, you should use the email address that will travel with you from one project to the next. If you use a work-related email, and your work situation changes, you won't have access to that account anymore. It's best to link a TiM account to the account that travels with you, to ensure all production invitations and any other important messages relating to start work are received in one place.
Step 3. Complete your Profile
Once you log in, you will be prompted to complete a Profile. You will only need to complete a Profile once, forever. The information on your Profile will be pulled and pre-populated onto your startwork... so you never again have to fill out startwork line by line, page by page!
NOTE: A progress bar at the top of the screen will show you how close you are to completing your startwork.
Once your profile information is filled out, you are prompted to create an electronic signature. Again, you will only need to do this once, forever!
Step 4. Accept your Employment Details:
Once your user profile is created, you are presented with your terms of employment for this production.
If your employment details are correct and acceptable, click "Accept and Continue to Startwork".
** If you do not agree with the terms of employment, STOP. **
Contact the production representative listed at the top of the screen.
Do not proceed to the rest of the startwork packet!
If you see incorrect information, or believe some employment details are missing (is a box kit listed here? are you a loan out? Is your guarantee correct?), you should contact your production representative and discuss any changes that you believe should be made.
TiM is designed to empower employees and employers to openly communicate with one another, so everyone is on the same page about wages and job expectations.
Step 5. Enter your Personal Information (not stored in TiM long term):
The next screen prompts you to enter your social security number so it may be pre-populated onto your startwork documents. This and all other sensitive information is not stored in TiM long term.
You are also prompted to choose which form of ID you would like to present on your first day of work so your i-9 may be verified. According to USCIS regulations, this ID must be physically examined in order for your i-9 to be verified.
If your production is using direct deposit, you can opt in on this screen.
Click "Continue to Startwork" to proceed.
Step 6. Fill out your Form i-9:
Your form i-9 is different than the rest of your startwork packet. All other startwork in TiM is pre-populated with information pulled from the user profile, production information, and company information screens. To adhere to USCIS regulation, the information on a Form i-9 must be manually typed into the form. To read more, see: i-9: The Unicorn Form
When you are finished filling out the i-9, click "Submit". A pop up will appear, to make sure you understand Section 1 of the i-9.
Next you will be directed to the rest of your startwork packet.
Step 7. Fill out the rest of the Startwork Packet
This is the magical part!
TiM pre-populates your startwork for you, so you can just click "Sign All Pages & Submit", which will automatically place your electronic signature everywhere it needs to go.
No more filling out startwork!!!
NOTE: You do have the option to manually sign each page by clicking the signature area. For example, click a signature field and sign "As per local 52".
Step 8. You're Done!
Once you submit your startwork, you will see the "Done!" screen.
This screen lists any fellow employees who are able to verify your i-9, within your own department, or other departments.
After you've shown your ID to an authorized representative and they verify your i-9, the rest of your startwork packet will be submitted for approval.
If you click "Got it!", you are sent back to your production home screen.
Your Home Screen:
From your production's home screen, you can see any areas within a production that you are permitted to access.
NOTE: Employee permissions are set at the time of invite and can be adjusted by a Production Admin at any time from Crew Management, via the Permissions buttons (orange and white eye icon).
Once your packet is fully approved, you can view or download it from "My Stuff".
