Page Viewing Permissions allow you to show or hide certain startwork pages to specific employees. This way, you can insert all kinds of special forms in your Startwork Templates and assign Page Viewing Permissions to those pages, instead of building entire special-use packets just for certain types of employees.
For example, you can add a DGA Deal Memo to a standard Union packet, set a viewing permission for that form, and the DGA Deal Memo will only be able to be seen and signed by employees that are specified as DGA members.
NOTE: If no Viewing Permissions are set, by default all pages will be shown to all employees matched to that type of packet. If you do not need to use viewing permissions, do not assign them.
To access Page Viewing Permissions, click "Expand to assign special Viewing Permissions to (show or hide) specific pages in this packet to specific types of employees". A dropdown will appear and show all the types of viewing permissions available.
Types of Page Viewing Permissions:
If your packet contains a Direct Deposit Form, only employees who opt in to be paid through direct deposit may need to see this form.
Employees are given the chance to opt in to direct deposit and enter their bank account information on the screen right before they are shown their startwork (see image below).
NOTE: Just because an employee opts in to direct deposit does not guarantee that the employee will be paid that way. It is up to production to decide how they pay their employees.
If any of your forms include wording for daily versus weekly hires, use this viewing permission to only show specific hire types certain pages.
On the Employee Invite, there is an area to specify the type of employee you are hiring, ie: Daily vs. Weekly. The "Hire Type" viewing permission is connected to this selection.
If any of your forms include specific wording for exempt versus non-exempt employees, use this viewing permission to only show certain pages to employees with specific overtime status.
On the Employee Invite, there is an area to specify whether your employee is Non-Exempt or Exempt, which relates to whether or not the employee will receive overtime. The "Overtime Status" viewing permission is connected to this selection.
Box Kit and Allowances
Use the Box Kit and Allowances viewing permission to show certain forms only to employees whose employment details include a Box/Kit Rental.
You can check multiple allowances, or de-select types that do not apply.
For example, if you have a mileage reimbursement information form that is only applicable to employees granted a car allowance.
Sometimes certain forms only need to be seen by members of certain unions. To avoid confusion it may be helpful to assign certain pages to be seen only by certain union members.
For example, DGA deal memos only need to be filled out by members of the DGA.
If you enter a union or local number into the Union/Local# field on the employment invite, and then assign the Union/Guilds viewing permission for the same union or local number, only members of that union will be shown certain pages.
State of Residence
Laws relating to employment or working conditions vary from state to state. Certain forms may only be required to be seen or signed by residents of certain states. Use this viewing permission to allow only residents of certain states to view forms. Or, if you are hiring many distant hires, perhaps you want to hide certain forms from employees that work within your production's base state.
NOTE: Unlike most other Viewing Permissions, the State of Residence viewing permission pulls from the employee's user Profile (as opposed to the Employee Invite).
Perhaps you have a form that only needs to be seen and filled out by employees in certain jobs or departments. Or, you have a form that needs to be filled out by everyone on your crew except for some within certain jobs or departments. Use the "Department/Position" viewing permission to define by department who should receive a certain form.
