The Text Entry Box allows an employee to enter free-form text onto a document when they are submitting Startwork.
If you mark the Text Entry Box required, an employee will need to enter text within the box before they can successfully submit their Startwork. If the Text Entry Box is marked as un-required, an employee will still be able to enter text into the box, but will not be prevented from submitting Startwork if no text is entered.
Pro Tip: If your document is riddled with Text Entry Boxes, you're probably not building your document properly! Instead of Text Entry Boxes, use the Smart Fields!
