TiM's "Quick Approve" feature allows users to approve Startwork faster than ever!
When should I use "Quick Approve" versus the standard approval workflow?
Quick Approve is intended to be used by Approvers who do not need to examine all pages of an employee's packet.
If you are an Approver who needs to review all pages of a packet - for example, if your production uses "Add Text" to apply additional text to Startwork documents during approval steps, it is recommended that you use the standard approval workflow.
Who is able to use the "Quick Approve" function?
Quick Approve is available to users who have been granted any "Approve Startwork as:" Permission. (It is not available to users who only have "View: Approval Pipeline" Permission.)
Please note, during Quick Approval, Account Codes are only visible to, and can only be edited by, users who have been granted Approve Startwork as: Startwork Gatekeeper or Approve Startwork as: Production Accountant Permission. For more info, see: Understanding Account Codes in TiM
How does "Quick Approve" work?
- To launch Quick Approve, go to the Approval Pipeline and select "Quick Approve."
- The Quick Approval Summary will appear, which displays a summary of the employee's record.
At the top of the Quick Approval Summary box, TiM will display which approval step you are completing.
For example, "You are approving as Gatekeeper" or "You are approving as UPM."
This is handy for users who have been granted multiple approval Permissions.
The details of this summary (see image below) will appear as applicable.
For example, if the employee was not granted a Car Allowance, this detail will not appear on the list.
For some details, like End Date, if no End Date was specified you will see "Not Specified." - Select "Agree to Terms" if the Employment Details presented are accurate.
Select "Needs Correction" if the Employment Details are not correct.
Select "Skip to Next Packet" if you want to move on to the next packet, without approving the current packet. - If you select "Agree to Terms," TiM will show you the page where your signature needs to be applied (see image below).
Click "Sign & Next Packet" to apply your signature and move on to the next packet requiring your approval. - When you have cycled through all the records that need your approval, you will see the message "No more approvals remaining." At that point, you can click "OK" to exit from Quick Approval.
Quick Approve buttons explained:
View Full Packet
- Will exit you from Quick Approval and take you to the standard approval workflow, where you can edit Employment Details, view packet contents, and approve Startwork as usual.
Agree to Terms
- Will move you into the packet to allow you to apply your signature.
Sign & Next Packet
- Will apply your signature to the page presented and move you on to the next packet that requires your approval.
- Will move you to the next record, without making any changes to the current record.
Needs Correction
- If you are a Startwork Gatekeeper, "Needs Correction" will allow you to exit from Quick Approval and take you to the standard approval workflow, where you can edit Employment Details and/or bounce the packet back to the employee as usual.
- Before exiting Quick Approval, TiM will ask you, "Do you want to correct this packet now?" to give you the option to continue with Quick Approval for the rest of the packets pending your review, or proceed to the standard approval workflow so you can correct the packet now (see image below).
- Select "Correct Now" to enter the standard approval workflow.
- Select "Skip & Next" to return to Quick Approval and review the next record.
- "Cancel" will return you to the current record in Quick Approval.
- Before exiting Quick Approval, TiM will ask you, "Do you want to correct this packet now?" to give you the option to continue with Quick Approval for the rest of the packets pending your review, or proceed to the standard approval workflow so you can correct the packet now (see image below).
- If you are an Upstream Approver (ie: Production Accountant, Production Supervisor, AUPM, UPM, Line Producer, or Studio Exec), "Needs Correction" will allow you to bounce the packet back to the Startwork Gatekeeper, and prompt you to enter a reason for sending this back to the Gatekeeper, to give them context on how the record should be modified.
