The Direct Deposit Viewing Permission triggers options unique to direct deposit, and should only be applied to direct deposit forms.
If applied to a page within a Startwork Template, the Direct Deposit Viewing Permission will trigger a prompt to be shown to employees, where they can choose to complete the direct deposit form, or choose not to complete the form (see image below).
The Direct Deposit Viewing Permission is controlled by the employee, because it is the employee's decision whether or not they want to complete the direct deposit form and opt in to direct deposit, if direct deposit is offered by production.
NOTE: Currently in TiM is is not possible for production to require that employees to opt in to direct deposit, because it is our understanding that from a legal perspective this could be seen as discriminatory against employees who do not have bank accounts.
If an employee selects the checkbox next to "I would like to fill out the Direct Deposit form in this packet", a direct deposit form will be included in their Startwork packet and the employee will be required to enter their bank account information so the form can be populated (see image below).
If an employee does not select the checkbox, the employee's packet will not include a direct deposit form and the employee will not be prompted to enter their bank account information.
NOTE: Many payroll companies have retired their direct deposit form, and instead encourage employees to use online portals to sign up for direct deposit.
For example, Media Services and Cast & Crew employees can sign up for direct deposit via the My Cast & Crew portal (link here) instead of submitting a direct deposit form.
Confirm with your payroll company if it is necessary to include a direct deposit form in your packets!
