You may have noticed that there are two places where email addresses are called for in your TiM Account: the "Email Address for Crewlist/Startwork" within My Profile and the Primary and Alternate Email Addresses within Account Settings.
The email listed in My Profile is used in the following ways:
- The email listed in your Profile populates on your Startwork, wherever your email address is required to appear (ie: wherever an "Email Address" Smart Field has been placed within the Startwork Template).
- The email listed in your Profile appears on Project Crew Lists in TiM.
- Pro Tip: If you do not want to share your email address or phone number on TiM Crew Lists, you can choose to hide this information. See: I don't want my personal email address or phone number to appear on Project Crew Lists in TiM. How can I control this?
- If you send an Invite, the email listed in your Profile appears in the email notification sent to the recipient:
Please note, currently in TiM, this feature cannot be customized.
The email addresses listed in Account Settings are used in the following ways:
There are two types of email addresses you can add to your Account Settings: a Primary Email Address and two Alternate Email Addresses.
Your Primary Email Address serves two functions:
- Your Primary Email is the email address that you will use to log in to your TiM Account.
- Since TiM introduced OKTA as a single sign on solution in January 2022, all TiM users will now have the same log in credentials for any applications your OKTA single sign on might be connected to, ie: TiM, My Cast & Crew, Media Services Crew Portal, and CAPS+.
- This means that when you reset your TiM password, your password will also update for any related applications.
- Pro Tip: Be sure to update your password manager and/or auto fill settings accordingly!

- Your Primary Email Address is also where you will receive all TiM-related email notifications, including:
- If you are invited to a new Project, you are notified via email.
- If production sends you additional Startwork to complete, you are notified via email.
- If your Employment Details change, you are notified via email.
- If you want to reset your password, the password reset link is sent to you via email.
- If you are an approver, you receive email notifications if Startwork is pending your approval.
- If any TiM-related messages are sent to an Alternate Email Address, TiM will route the notification to land in your Primary Email Address Inbox.
The sole purpose of Alternate Email Addresses is to funnel new Project Invites that might be sent to other email addresses you use, to your existing TiM Account.
For example: If an Invite for a new Project is sent to one of your Alternate Email Addresses, TiM will know to connect the new Project to your TiM Account (however the email notification will be routed to your Primary Email Address inbox).
Alternate Email Addresses are optional, but recommended if you use multiple emails.
