How to set up MFA via the Okta Verify app (recommended)

The Okta Verify app is TiM's recommended method to satisfy Multifactor Authentication (MFA). When setting up their MFA, users do have the option to verify their identity by receiving a code via phone call or text message, however some users may find the Okta Verify app experience to be preferable and/or more reliable.

With the Okta Verify app, you don't receive a code via phone call or text message to manually enter in order to verify your identity. Instead, a notification is triggered and received within the Okta Verify app itself, and then you simply click a single button to confirm you received that ping - and voila! Your identity is verified!

The Okta Verify app is a super handy tool because it can be leveraged to satisfy MFA for all kinds of secure platforms, not just TiM! 

Please note that Okta is a third party service.

How to set up MFA via the Okta Verify app:

1. On your laptop or desktop, open a browser and go to hellotim.com and select "Log In."
2. Enter your current TiM Account log in credentials (email and password). 
3. Under "Set up multifactor authentication," under "Okta Verify" select "Setup."
   • Or, select "Back to factor list" to return to "Set up multifactor authentication."
     
     
4. Make sure you have the Okta Verify app downloaded on to your mobile device.
   • For iPhone users: Click here to download the Okta Verify app from the App Store!
   • For Android users: Click here to download the Okta Verify app from the Google Play Store!
5. Return to the TiM Log In screen.
6. Select your device type - ie: either iPhone or Android.
7. Click "Next."
8. A unique QR code will appear on your screen, like this example:
   Note: If you are unable to scan your QR code, select "Can't scan?" to receive a code via SMS text instead.
   
9. On your device, open the Okta Verify App. 
10. At the top right, select "+" to add an account.
11. Choose an Account Type (you will most likely choose "Other").
12. Select "Scan a QR Code."
13. Hold your mobile device up to your laptop or desktop screen and center the QR code within the Frame provided.
14. Okta will scan the QR code and complete verification for you! 

Once the above steps are complete, you can just use the Okta Verify App to verify your identification, without the use of a phone call or text message!
