Multifactor authentication (MFA) offers security that relies upon additional methods beyond just your password to allow access to your account. This layered defense makes it more difficult for an unauthorized person to access your TiM Account. MFA is an important tool implemented to reduce security risks and better protect the information stored within your TiM Account. TiM's MFA is powered by Okta.
TiM users can set up their MFA in three possible ways:
- The Okta Verify App.
- Receive a single-use code via text message/ SMS Authentication.
- Receive a single-use code via phone/voice call authentication.
Pro Tip: You only need to set up one MFA factor, you do not need to set up all three!
The steps below outline how to set up MFA via Voice Call Authentication.
How to set up MFA via Voice Call Authentication
Users are prompted to "Set up multifactor authentication" after signing up for TiM, or if a user has not logged into their existing account since before January 2021.
- Next to "Voice Call Authentication" select "Setup."
- Select your country.
- Enter the phone number where you would like to receive your MFA code.
- Troubleshooting Tip: I can't change the phone number to receive a MFA verification code. What do I do?
- Optional: Add an extension.
- Click "Call".
- In a few moments you will receive a phone call, and a voice will relay a code. Enter that code under "Enter Code".
- Click "Verify".
- A green checkmark will appear next to Voice Call Authentication to confirm this MFA method has been set up successfully.
Pro Tip: You only need to set up one MFA factor, you do not need to set up all three! - Click "Finish".
